Barry Van Dyke


Coach Barry Van Dyke played for the Mountain Crest High School basketball team.  He took 2nd at state his junior year and 4th his senior year in Utah.  Coach Van Dyke went to Snow College and tried to walk onto the mens' basketball team.  Unfortunately he was the last one cut. Two years later he walked onto Treasure Valley Community College.  There he averaged  20 points a game. Coach Barry earned a scholarship to Black Hills State University, an NAIA school in South Dakota. During his time there, they were ranked as high as 5th in the Nation. He also beat Huron University with a last second three pointer to cap an 18 point comeback win!

Coach Barry then came home and coached 3 years as an Assistant with Mountain Crest High School. Then for 4 years as an Assistant with Logan High school.   He was instrumental in helping the team go from last, to two consecutive Region championships. Coach then went back to Treasure Valley Community College as a first assistant for 3 years and helped 8 players move on to bigger colleges and further their careers.

He also coached at College of Idaho as an assistant for two years before moving to Utah.  While in Idaho, Barry coached for two years as an AAU head coach for 3rd and 4th grade teams, and won several championships. He then coached a 6th grade AAU team and had great success. He is looking forward to helping the NWBA establish a program that trains kids to have a good attitude and effort. A program that builds a foundation for athletes to be successful at the college level.

Coach Barry and his "Wonder Woman" wife Janel have 5 amazing children.
